It's a difficult situation to be sure. But, the corruption isn't just with Mugabe but with the entire Government.

What could we do? Even if we (the UN?) had sufficient forces to invade and occupy yet another Country what could we do then? Who could we leave in charge and would they be any better than Mugabe.

Don't misunderstand me, I'd love to see a change over there and the situation is truly terrible. But, I don't see what we could do that wouldn't make the situation worse.

You're right about the corruption, the entire Government is riddled by it.
I'll tell you this if Rhodesia had oil you can bet Bush and Brown would have invaded long ago.
As for who would be left in charge there is only one, Morgan Tsvangiral, the truely elected President of Rhodesia.

SAS..two weeks no prob, if not it'll be rwanda all over again...how much worse will that be? as for iraq don't get me started on that one regime change there was clearly the wrong move...things were changing slowly for the better before we stuck our foot in..now the whole place is a mess..the world as a whole needs to take responsibility for these things...the good of the many...

Sammy, the SAS is one rather truncated unit (divided into three Regiments). A fair proportion is always deployed within GB and there are others on operations throughout the world. Quite a few in Afghanistan and Iraq. You probably couldn't get more than a couple of hundred of them together at the present time.

Much as I have great admiration for them I don't think a couple of hundred blokes can invade and occupy a country somewhat larger than England.

America is overstretched, Russia has other things on it's mind at the moment and I don't think China really cares. A military solution probably wouldn't work. Especially not in the political scene after the total mess of Afghanistan and Iraq. Sanctions just hurt the little people and Mugabe not at all.

I can't think of a solution (much as I'd like to) that is even remotely feasible.
