I can't seem to get the Shockwave player on http://stonehenge3d.co.uk/stonehenge3dmodel.htm to work even after downloading and installing latest player and restarting Firefox.

More than compatibility issues. My PC locked up on me, first I noticed the cursor would not move, couldn't close anything, Power button on keyboard wouldn't close down PC, Reboot button part turned off PC until I hit it again, when PC came back up I noticed my BitMeter which shows me Internet traffic and usage showed not even background noise for period of locked up PC. Everything back to normal after reboot (I think) and am doing a virus scan just in case. Will be uninstalling Shockwave Player from Firefox then installing official one from Adobe site.

Just uninstalled Shockplayer plugin. Then went to Macromedia site and found there was an update to Flash Player. Downloaded and installed Flash Player, went back to the site to run Settings Manager and was told I didn't have flash Player. Ran the download and install again and now Flash Player is installed once more, but, I notice it has reverted to original version I had before updating. Looks as if they may have noticed something wrong. I'm going to wait a while before installing Shockwave Player again, I suspect there is something more seriously wrong with that one and rarely need it anyway.

It may not be you, the model will not work on my PC now, and it did a few hours ago, maybe their server is down

Possibly they are also having problems with latest Shockwave Player and have disabled it until a fix is out. Were you prompted to update/download Shockwave? If not maybe you have older stable version and the update was very recent.
